Lanyu: Day 1 in Kaohsiung & Ferry to Lanyu

I never thought I'd come to Kaohsiung twice in one year, but me and my dad did. We were on our way to Lanyu, to catch the one o'clock ferry, but since we were so early when we got to there, we decided to take a look around Hengchun (located at the southern tip of Taiwan) before we headed off to Kenting, where the ferry was at. Therefore, the pictures of Lanyu are at the bottom, and there are going to be more in my next two posts.

My dad and I sat somewhere, and waited an hour for the ferry to come.

Finally, the boat arrived!

It takes about two and a half hours to get to Lanyu, so I was pretty nervous to be in the ferry for so long. My dad, who has been to Lanyu 3 or 4 times now, told me he would always stand on the deck, because the fresh air is better, and there would be less chance of vomiting. However, the ferry was rocking so hard, and I was terrified, so I sat on the deck. It didn't help as I eventually hurled.

Despite my discomfort, I had to admire the beauty of the sea.

After two long hours, we finally arrived, to my relief.

Lanyu!

We could see another ferry that was heading to another island near Taiwan, and then goes back to Taitung.

We got the motorcycle that we rented and headed towards our hotel. We passed by this building which I called the "Drumhouse", but I learned later that it actually has something to do with the phone company.

Oh, yes, goats. Did I mention? Lanyu is full of 'em.

We got to our hotel in fifteen minutes, rested a bit, then went in search for dinner! Click here for my day 2 post.
