The Hunger Games

"Stay alive."

My mom, my brother, and I went to see The Hunger Games yesterday. We would have seen the movie in the morning, but they didn't have a morning show, which means the movie is not as popular here as it is back in the States, where it's so hyped. I read the books a few weeks ago, introduced by a fellow blogger (Thanks!), and was hooked into it immediately. Therefore, my mom took us to see the movie. Here are some pictures!

We had very good seats.

After the film. We went in around 12:30 p.m, and came out at 3:00 p.m.

(No spoilers!) The Hunger Games felt incredibly long, despite it being only 140 minutes. The movie was okay, but the book was much better. I can understand many reviews were correct: whoever didn't read the book would probably feel the first half will drag. There were many scenes that I wished were included in the movie, but, oh, well. The CGI was pretty good, and the costume designs and settings were ridiculously amazing. Jennifer Lawrence delivered a well performance, and the rest of the cast was okay. Stanley Tucci, as Caesar Flickerman, did a good job. Well, overall, the movie was not bad.

Have a Happy Hunger Gam - I mean, have a great day!

  1. That's so cool you got to see the movie! Over here in India, the first show sold out in an hour. I want to see it, but now looking at your review, I'm not so sure.

You mean, Imagine by John Lennon? I've heard his version, but I never knew Avril did a cover. Gotta go listen! Unfortunately, that's the only Avril Lavigne album I have. But I have some singles too, like some tracks from Let Go and Under My Skin .

I can go online, but I can't update to iOS 5, OR connect to the iTunes store from my PC! And Safari is very slow. I think Windows 7 is anyday better. Though the games and everything are cool on the iPad :)

Anyway, tell me if it's worth going to see the movie :) Your welcome about the "introduced to THG" thing.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Then I AM gonna watch THG and no one's gonna stop me. Muahahaha! xD

I'll post a full picture of the mug :) Thanks!

The games on the iPad have to be downloaded from the App Store. Yup, you can play synced music in your iPad, but you can only tune in to stations if you have earphones.

Nope, I don't OWN the fourth book, but I borrowed it from the library. I'm reading Ravenwood right now, so The Miserable Mill is next in line.

I watched Die Hard so many years ago, I don't even remember the plot. But we have all the DVDs, so I'm gonna start on Die Hard 1 today, and go on with each movie everyday.

Calvin can talk well, indeed :) I love it when Hobbes asks him, "How come we play war and not peace?" xD

    Peace

  3. Sorry I took so long to reply to this. I've been online a lot lately, but for some reason your comment never appeared on my blog. I saw it when I checked my email though.

I tend to just call myself half American too, since I'm a bunch of different things on my mom's side. And I also think that Lourdes is really pretty. :)

Yes, I'm very relieved that my family in Japan turned out to be alright. TV's in the US really didn't cover too much of the earthquake, which is disappointing. I had to read articles or go online to find out about it instead.

And, btw, I saw the Hunger Games movie too! My friends and I went to the midnight premiere and I thought it was pretty good. Before the movie, we did this party thing and reenacted the Hunger Games. XD We had toy guns and stuff (even though they didn't have those sorts of weapons in the book...hahah) and hid in the woods when it was dark. It turned out to be really scary.

  4. Thanks!

It's not inconvenient, but it's impossible to listen to stations when you're iPod's connected to a dock.

Nope, I haven't heard of Hex Hall. What genre is it?

Yup, I watched Die Hard 1! The plot came back to me when I was half way through the movie. It was awesome! I liked Argyle the most :P And Al Powell.

What do you mean by "part"? I like Calvin too, because somehow he always gets into trouble with Susie. xD

  5. Thanks. :) I love 60's-ish stuff usually.

I definitely feel more American than Japanese, mainly because I can't speak Japanese. :(

It was fun, but kind of scary. And it was SUPER crowded at the theater. There were two midnight showings, and they were both packed. Um...I read 3/4 of the first book. XD

  6. Don't worry, I like evil xD

Docking stations provides a simplified way of “plugging-in” an electronic device. A dock has speakers, so you can play music through it without earphones, and it also charges your i-device at the same time.

Hex Hall... if you can tell me who the author is, I can look it up in the library so I can borrow the book. a triology? That sounds fun :)

And since I'm asking everyone I know: what kind of clothes do you like to wear?

  7. I know xD Even if I know most tech, I can't name them or say "oh yeah" when someone mentions them to me by name :P

I'm already on my way to the library.

I like khakis too, and jeans, when it isn't too sweaty outside. I wear black most of the time, because I like punk, too. But I wear green T-shirts too, because I like slimy, alien stuff. Flowery things are sick and pink . And I don't like pink anymore than I like red ants. And hey, have you got a tattoo?

    And PLEASE READ THIS!!! http://villain-girl.blogspot.in/2012/04/i-need-all-help-i-can-get.html

  8. Yeah, my dad speaks English with me. Actually, he's starting to forget Japanese, which isn't good.

I agree with you in that the books are more informative. My friends were complaining about some of the scenes/details that they left out of the movie. And I like the book, but I've been too busy reading for school to finish. >__<

  9. Thanks for your support :) It means a lot to me.

I just realized I can read books on the iPad! My brother told me, being the doofus I was. So when I found that our library didn't have Hex Hall, I downloaded it :) But I haven't started reading yet. I like books that include fantasy (not the glittery girly kind, the evil kind). I read YA and adventure/mystery (or crossover) kinds. Maybe remodeled myths too, like Percy Jackson or The Kane Chronicles (I just finished TKC Book 1 yesterday). What kind of books do you like?

You mean like, the pink she's wearing here? http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/14900000/Avril-Pink-hair-avril-lavigne-14968131-183-275.jpg

    Thanks a lot again!

  10. That's the same thing they sent me. Great. Now everything is computer-generated.

It's not like reading an original book, but it's good enough - you can increase/decrease the brightness, turn the book any way you want, yadda yadda yadda. Is that Kindle-comfortable? :) About the links - sure!

I like science fiction too, especially movies. And I love how aliens call humans "Terrans". Because I think our species needs a name, and "humans" is just lame. Yup, Rick Riordan is better than the yummiest nutty ice-cream cake :)

Both of us have a lot in common, and I like the sound of that :)

  11. Walking the dog isn't so bad, is it? I'd consider it a honor :)

The iPad can read ePub or PDF files. Thanks for the links :)

I've heard of Inkheart, but my friend told me she didn't like it, so I didn't go for it.

BTW, listen to this song called Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. They remind me of Led Zeppelin :) I really like Jack White because his voice is awesome :D

  12. I wish my dad would have spoken Japanese with me all of these years. Now I have to take Japanese classes to learn. :/ You're really lucky that you're bilingual. My friend can speak Chinese and English too, and I'm really jealous.

Yeah, I have a lot of homework, but it's basically a ton of tests every week. A lot of the teachers just assign reading for you to do at home and it's really time consuming/annoying.

In America? The weather's really nice, and all the flowers are blooming. In Japan, at least where my family lives, it's ridiculously hot all the time.
