Confucious Quotes

I love reading sayings and quotes. Lately, I have been reading some wise sayings by Confucious (551-479), who was a Chinese teacher and philosopher (and many more), from a comic book written by a popular Taiwanese cartoonist, Tsai Chih Chung (蔡志忠). When I was reading it, I felt like tearing up. I actually cried a little when there was a page concerning Confucious mourning for the death of his pupil, Yan Hui, who died at a young age. Anyway, I thought Confucious was indeed a wise man, and many of his inspirational sayings do apply well to our world. Here are a few quotes from Confucious which I really loved:

(I got some of these quotes from Brainyquotes and Goodreads.)

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
A superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions.
If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear?
Wherever you go, go with all your heart.
When anger rises, think of the consequences.
If you make a mistake and do not correct it, this is called a mistake.
Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.
The demands that good people make are upon themselves; Those that bad people make are upon others.
True wisdom is knowing what you don't know.
Respect yourself and others will respect you.
To be poor without murmuring is difficult. To be rich without being proud is easy.
All people are the same; only their habits differ.
The superior man acts before he speaks, and afterwards speaks according to his actions.
By three methods may we learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third, by experience, which is the bitterest.
Don't do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you.
Shall I teach you what knowledge is? When you know a thing, say that you know it; when you do not know a thing, admit that you do not know it. That is knowledge.
